Build folding table yourself: DIY instructions with pictures
How can you easily build a folding table yourself?
Folding furniture is the perfect solution for small apartments. That much is already clear. What do you think of a folding table that you can build yourself and that has a double function – like a table and a mirror in one? Unusual? For sure. But that’s why it’s very original and multifunctional. So you save a lot of space and if the table is not needed, you have a great big mirror in the room. We were fascinated by this idea. We hope you like it as well. Above all, the design of the table impresses with understated simplicity and clean lines. Such a DIY piece of furniture does not only look stylish, it also fits in well with almost any interior design and suits every style of living. Scandinavian style chairs and a few fresh splashes of color, for example in pastel, are the perfect complement to this.
Build folding table yourself, made easy
Here comes the guide with pictures.
Materials:
- wooden boards
- Metal fishing
- mirror
- Tape for the mirror
- Acrylic paint
- L-hook
- masking tape
- screw
Tools:
- brush
- Holzbohrer
- electric drill
- jigsaw
- Sandpaper or wood grinder
- pencil
- ruler
- protractor
- Mauerbohrer
Step 1: Draw a rectangle with the pencil
On one of the wooden boards first draw a rectangle with the pencil. Between the outer edge and the sides of the rectangle should be at least 10 cm free.
Step 2: Drill four holes with the wood drill
Then take the wood drill and drill one hole in each corner of the rectangle.
Step 3: Work with the jigsaw
At this step, we recommend wearing artisan gloves. Using the jigsaw, cut out the drawn area by starting at the holes.
Step 4: Sand with sandpaper or wood grinder
Pick up sandpaper or the wood grinder and carefully sand down the edges until they are nice and smooth. This board will also serve as a table leg and as a mirror frame.
Step 5: Paint with acrylic paint and attach the fishing rods
Paint the wooden frame, the second wooden board and the acrylic paint of your choice and let it dry. When the parts are completely dry, connect the two table parts to the shorter sides using the hinges. Use the electric drill.
Step 6: Fix and attach the mirror
Now place the mirror on the back of the table top and fix its position with the masking tape. Finally, attach the tape / adhesive tape to the back of the mirror and attach it to the tabletop, in the already fixed position. Press gently but firmly. Then remove the masking tape. Finished!
Step 7: Attach the tabletop to the wall
Now fix the table top with the mirror (as seen above) using the metal hinges and the masonry drill on the wall. In this way, the table can be easily opened.
Step 8: Attach L-hook to the wall
Finally, all you need to do is attach the L-hooks on the left and right of the folding table to the wall. These will secure the whole construction with the wall mirror option. That’s it!
Not only have you saved a lot of precious space, but also built a cool mirror folding table yourself. Congratulations! They did it!
