Cool wall decoration – a photo wall with family photos frame
Project: Designing a Family Photo Wall
Nowadays we are ready that we have all the cameras and through the printers almost always convert the pixels into wonderful pictures. I have not done any research on this topic, but I’m sure there are more photographs per family than ever before.
How should one then present these?
According to interior designer Emily Mughannam of EM Design Interiors in Sonoma, California, the technologies have changed, but the desire to surround us with family pictures is always so great!
In her opinion, such a wall should tell a story. A photo wall shows us clearly where we have been and in which direction we go now. You do not even need a specialist for such a design.

WhyWhen you hang up all the pictures on the wall, it looks like you took everything out of the drawers and placed them on the wall. A thought behind it can turn the wall into a work of art.
Who should you hire: Although you can do something like this on a weekend as your own DIY project. However, you can achieve a more upscale look by hiring a professionalist. Also consider creating the frames by a craftsman.
Decide where your photo wall should be located
main steps: Personally, I prefer to place such projects in floorboards or in the bedroom due to the crowded appearance. Then you have to consider whether you want to follow the arrangement of the shape of a grid or rather be asymmetrical. Whatever you choose, the relationship between the images will create a sense of order. You should also use an element throughout. This can be color, shading of the frames or size of the images.
You can have many photos of different sizes if they are all black and white.
Here’s an example from the David Rausch Studio in Zionsville, Indiana. The black and white images are the same size and frame as the windows. This is how you formulated a strong architectural statement in the room.
How to successfully realize the project:
One should think of ways in which one should not always add new images and achieve a finished look. A popular way would be to use frames whose contents can be swiftly exchanged
Pictured here is a work by the architects from the Slade Architecture studio in New York
One has exhibited here a large number of pictures asymmetrical. The wall behind the metal stairs has been created in order to be able to attach pictures with magnets.
The common element here is the colorful appearance. One created a very personal abstract work of art.
The designer Mughannam has achieved similar results through magnetic color similar results. It uses very fine pieces of iron, through which you can attach the pictures. If you choose this species, you should be warned that sometimes you need a lot of layers of paint.

By the technique just described above, this person has created a sweet heart shape. The idea was realized in a teenage room. Through the wall you have the opportunity to create completely different figures from pictures.
But you do not always have to do the pictures in the same shape and color
In this example we have used a number of vintage frames here. It was helpful to use the same distance between them.
You can see the photo wall of This photo wall, by Hufft Projects. It was created for a house in Kansas City, Missouri. One has used very different frames here. But you achieved a great appearance, because the outermost edges are underlined and the frames are always the same distance from each other.
Do you want to create such a project at home? Do you want to try it alone?
Here is a special tip for you: you can arrange all the pictures on a large piece of paper. Once you have the right arrangement, you can attach it to the wall. You can see the parts of the pictures through Nagel. If you tear off the paper, the places of the pictures remain marked. It works!
Or maybe you can think of another method?
