Euro pallets for children – Which pallets are suitable?
Admittedly, if you hear a crib in connection with Euro pallets, some parents are very worried that it could harm their own child’s health. After all, pallets are transported with various goods that can carry bacterial contamination and certainly not on the transport route ensured that the Euro pallets arrive dust-free at the destination. That’s why we only use new Euro pallets, which are specially made for the construction of pallet furniture, – and are delivered well packed directly from the factory. Of course, the pallet bed thereby loses the upcycling thought, but the child’s health goes without question.
Bed made of pallets – it’s all about fine-tuning
So if you like the look of furniture made of Euro pallets as well as we do and do not want to do without it in the bedroom, the new pallets offer unscrupulous alternatives. Should you nevertheless decide for used pallets, which we definitely advise against, especially with a cot made of pallets, be sure to inform yourself which goods were transported on the Euro pallets and pay attention to the stamp. An exact overview of the most important facts of the Euro-pallets and what must be respected, you will find on our blog.
Apart from the condition of the pallets, it is very important that the europallets are thoroughly sanded, as we are talking about a cot as mentioned above. Each of the children has, knows how much the little ones with great fascination touch everything, discover and take in the mouth. For this reason, smooth surfaces on the bed are essential. Should it be too strenuous for you to sand down 4.5 Euro pallets for the cot on your own, you can order polished Euro pallets, you will also find on our page.
What makes a cot apart from the dimensions now a real cot?
Like all other children, our daughter loves to say goodbye to the day with bedtime stories, ideally being surrounded by her favorite cuddly toys and dolls. For this reason, when planning the Euro pallet bed, it was important to us that your cot has plenty of storage and storage space so that your books and cuddly toys have their own space. Even more important is in a cot, of course, the Rausfallschutz, because as we all know, the little ones are also quite active in sleep. Stretch all fours, roll through the whole bed, are sometimes with his head at the foot. For this reason, we came up with the idea of providing a function for the protection against loss and to provide it with additional shelves on both sides. At the foot end we simply attached two pallet boards accordingly.
Of course, we have left an opening for entry and exit. So that the entry into the new pallet bed runs smoothly, we built a small stool for our daughter out of the blocks of the Euro pallets and two boards, which we also took from the pallets.
To create more storage space, we have two drawers in bed. For this we have sawed chipboard in the hardware store, glued them with glue and colored. In order to give the pallet bed a very personal touch, we have written the name of our daughter as a branding with a fuel rod on the front of the crib, matching the pallet look.
Which mattress did we use for the pallet bed?
The mattress for the cot made of europallets we have cut ourselves. For this purpose, a seven-zone cold foam mattress was used, which was super easy to cut with a sharp knife. The procurement for the matching children’s bed sheet was no problem. So that the little one does not injure herself during the nocturnal turning and turning on the subjects or gets stuck somewhere, I sewed a bed slug. For this I have sewn fabric remnants and an old sweatpants together and stuffed them with filling cotton, so that it provides a soft protection and playfully represents the perfect padding.
Our conclusion to the cot from Europaletten DIY
All in all, we and our daughter are extremely happy with the bed, because it offers everything that makes a cot a real feel-good place. The little girl likes to stay in her bed and goes to bed much better in the evening. In the meantime, she has stuffed the small compartment of the protection against loss with cloths and chosen the bed of her favorite doll.
