2014 is already here and I try to organize everything a little better. The bulletin boards are wonderful for organizing documents and calendars. They can serve as a kind of command center for the kitchen and for the whole house.
You can spend a bit more time on creative ideas and create beautiful wall decorations.
Do the pinboard yourself
There are so many possibilities! I’ve already seen such beautiful deco ideas of this kind! One could create a large work by four frames, which serves as a central piece. You can also opt for glass surface on which you can wipe everything dry.
Materials and tools
2 Ikea Norilda frame
60x 120 cm cork
Contact adhesive
10 cm wide tape
Spray, artisan or latex paint
Tools for cutting, X-acto knives, metal ruler and cutting mat
Remove the back layer of the frames and remove the cardboard
1. Roll out the cork and note the shape of the pin board including the frame.
Tip: Roll the cork mat the night before and cover it with heavy books. This will make it easier for you to work with it the next day.
Cut the cork with the help of the cutting mat
2. Cut the cork using the cutting mat, the X-acto knife and the metal linear. Carefully trim it with the help of sharp knives.
Add contact adhesive and carefully separate the cork
3. Place some heavy books again so that everything is evenly distributed. Tip: Add several layers, so that everything becomes firm, because the contact adhesive attaches itself very fast.
Put the tape on
4. If you want to achieve a simple chevron design, you should work your way inside out. Use two pieces of tape to achieve a simple, accurate interior design. On the cutting edges, one piece of tape should be placed over the other and an X-acto knife should be used to deposit the excess material.
Push down all the tape
5. Press down all the tape and apply a thin layer of paint with spray so that it dries between the different layers. You can also insert latex paint.
6. When the paint dries off, you can remove the tape.
Remove the glass from the frame
7. Remove the glass from the frame if you want to have a cork wall, or keep it if you can write on it and then wipe it off. Then mount everything on the wall and start attaching the needles.
