The freestanding bath is back in fashion. Now it is not as unpretentious and simple as it used to be, but rather modern and multifunctional. There is a plethora of designs and the bathtubs are made of different fabrics today. The most important of these are steel / enamel, concrete, wood, but also sanitary acrylic, mineral materials and cast iron – as is the case with the classic claw-foot bathtub.

Each fabric has its advantages and disadvantages and you have to be well advised in advance, before you find the right tub for the bathroom. A trial sitting or even test lying is also recommended, so you can be safer.

The new, freestanding bath is often the eye-catcher in the bathroom and has underwater lights, massage jets or water heating. She is a real luxury.

The steel / enamel bath is very common in the market. This fabric is insensitive and easy to care for. However, if you choose such a tub, you should know that the surface feels colder than other materials. Sanitary acrylic bathtubs, on the other hand, have a surface that is warmer but are more delicate overall and not so easy to care for. A bathtub made of mineral materials also looks warm – these are synthetic resins with minerals and because they are cast, they can be produced in different, curved shapes. One of the best known mineral resins is Corian.

For real vintage fans, of course, there is the possibility to buy the classic – the claw-foot bathtub, which is now not only made of cast iron, but of all the materials already mentioned. The trend with free-standing bathtubs is the following – they are getting bigger and have more and more extras. Sometimes it’s even hard to tell if there is a normal bathtub or a whirlpool.
