At the famous Ground Zero in New York is now the One World Trade Center
1. One World Trade Center, United States – 541 m
The One World Trade Center, with its imposing shape and height (541 m), is not only the tallest building in New York City, but also the newest and tallest skyscraper in the United States. In place of the original World Trade Center, known as Ground Zero, the most imposing skyscraper in America was built, occupying the sixth position on the list of tallest buildings in the world. It has 104 floors, 70 of which are office floors. Completed in 2014, the giant was built as a functional building to commemorate the September 11, 2001 attacks and was named after the North Tower of the original World Trade Center. The building was known for its use of renewable energy, including the reuse of rainwater. A very realistic impression of this striking skyscraper you can get in the next video.
The future plans of the architects and the city of New York City include the construction of five office towers, which should form a joint composition with the One World Trade Center. Part of it will be the National September 11 Memorial Monument and Museum.

The 101-story Tapei Financinal Center (or simply called Tapei 101) is located in the eponymous city of Taipei, capital of Taiwan. By 2006 it was the tallest skyscraper in the world, but by now the competition has built other outstanding futuristic architecture structures that we have already introduced to you. However, Tapei 101 with its height of 527 m is still enviable, hardly to mention how remarkable the building is. Its imposing shape is wonderful on the entire city panorama and even towers far beyond the skyline of the city.
The skyscraper Tapei 101 attracts everyone’s eyes from afar
The tallest building in Taipei has a unique blue-green glass curtain tint and is eye-catching day and night. The building was designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners and KTRT joint venture designed and built and is flexible and resistant to earthquakes and typhoons. Architecture that belongs more to the future
4. Shanghai World Financial Center, China – 492 m
Now we come to another Asian wonder – Shanghai World Financial Center! You should not be surprised that the tallest buildings in the world are built in the Far East. Europe has long lost the competition with these countries. Only Shanghai has many skyscrapers, and two of them are on the prestigious list of tallest buildings in the world – Shanghai Tower (632m high) and Shanghai World Financial Center (492m). Completed in 2008, the Shanghai World Financial Center is a symbol of state-of-the-art architecture. It is located in Shanghai’s Pudong district, where skyscrapers line up. There is the international financial and commercial center of the city. The construction of the Shanghai World Financial Center was designed to demonstrate the financial power of China and showcase it to the world. But it remains the perfect example of postmodern architecture.
High aesthetics, ergonomics and environmental friendliness in one
The Shanghai World Financial Center has 101 floors and houses hotel rooms, offices, conference rooms, observation decks and shopping centers. The base of the building up to 24 m height is covered with raw granite. In addition to a high aesthetic reason, there are also purely practical such – so the whole construction is stable and the tower is protected from earthquakes. The main body is clad with a glass curtain wall, reflecting the sky and enhancing the WOW effect of the building and its architecture. The Shanghai skyscraper has a striking feature, this is a 50 m wide portal, which is located on the top floors. The concept is to reduce the tremendous load on the building top in strong winds. Because of this unique shape, this skyscraper is still called “bottle opener” with a lot of humor. Its design and construction fascinate locals and visitors every day.
